Overview
Extend the Annapurna Circuit to one of the world's highest lakes, then continue over Thorong La to Muktinath.
Tilicho Lake, usually listed at about 4,919 m, lies beneath the great ice walls of Tilicho Peak. The side trip from Manang is one of the Circuit's most memorable walks.
The path to base camp crosses steep landslide slopes that need care. After the lake, you return to the Circuit and cross Thorong La at 5,416 m.
An Annapurna Conservation Area permit is required. This is a high and demanding trip, so acclimatization days matter.
