Overview

A historic Newar hill town between Pokhara and Lumbini, known for steep brick lanes, handwoven dhaka cloth and Himalayan views.

Tansen was once the seat of the Palpa kingdom and remains a pleasant, unhurried hill town. It makes a natural stop between Pokhara and Lumbini.

Walk through Tansen Durbar and metalworkers' lanes, see dhaka weaving, and hike to Shreenagar Hill for wide views. Rani Mahal, a riverside palace, is a popular day trip.

Facilities are simple, and the drive has plenty of bends.
