Overview

A short, friendly trek through rhododendron forest and Magar villages to a famous sunrise over Dhaulagiri and Annapurna.

This is the classic first Himalayan trek. Poon Hill, at 3,210 m, gives a sunrise view across Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and Machhapuchhre without needing high-altitude experience.

In spring the forest turns red and pink with rhododendron, and winter days are often clear. The route has many stone steps, so basic fitness helps.

An Annapurna Conservation Area permit is required.
