Overview

The closest big mountain trek to Kathmandu, through Tamang villages and alpine pastures beneath Langtang Lirung.

Langtang needs no flights and starts only a day's drive from Kathmandu. The valley climbs from forest to yak pastures and glacial moraine under Langtang Lirung (7,227 m).

Local communities have rebuilt strongly since the 2015 earthquake, and many lodges are family-run. Your stay directly supports them.

A Langtang National Park permit is required. A day hike to Kyanjin Ri gives excellent views without crossing a high pass.
