Overview
A quieter alternative to Poon Hill, staying in community-run lodges and walking to a high ridge facing Dhaulagiri and Annapurna South.
Khopra Ridge sits at about 3,660 m and has a clear view of the deep Kali Gandaki gorge between Dhaulagiri and Annapurna. Community-run lodges along the route support local villages.
A strong day hike can reach holy Khayer Lake, often given as about 4,660 m, though figures vary. Fit walkers can do this as an optional extra.
An Annapurna Conservation Area permit is required. The ridge is high and exposed, so prepare for cold nights.
