Overview
A serious camping expedition around the world's seventh highest mountain, crossing glaciers, French Pass and the high Hidden Valley.
This wild circuit goes around Dhaulagiri (8,167 m) by way of Italian Base Camp, Dhaulagiri Base Camp and the Chhonbardan Glacier. It then crosses French Pass, usually given as 5,360 m, and Dhampus Pass to Marpha.
It is among Nepal's hardest treks. Glacier travel, cold camps and long high days mean you need experience, a strong crew and sometimes rope work. Traditional lodges are absent on the high section.
Permits for the conservation area and Dhaulagiri area are required.
